Hometown celebrity chef Tyler Florence clarifies that while he and his management team have discussed the idea of a Wayfare Tavern fried-chicken truck, and while he thinks that the idea of a fried-chicken truck is a good one, he would like the local media to calm down and he has no immediate plans to launch said truck. Yumsugar had him on the record as contemplating the idea, but now ABC 7’s new “Foodie Call” segment (we know … right?) tries to confirm the wild rumor, and he pretty much denies it.

He goes so far as to say that anyone else is free to run with the fried-chicken truck idea first, because he’s probably not going to and it’s a good idea. (As for the rumor about him opening something in the Hotel Rex near Union Square, that one sounded like it had legs.)

Also, the Great Food Truck Race host expounds upon the concept of food truck culture in general, and why it’s so important right now for young chefs “in this delicate economy.”
