Tupelo, in the former Mojito space.

We warned you it was coming, and we alerted you yesterday to the soft opening, and today Grub Street brings you a little virtual tour of the newest bar-restaurant in North Beach called Tupelo (1337 Grant Street). The interior is cozy and looks nothing like its former self (if you need proof, Yelp provides a few archival images). Bonus food porn: chef Mark Danziger’s candied-bacon burger.

Also of note: The crew is still waiting on a license for live music in the space, which is going to be a cornerstone of their operation with a variety of acts ranging from blues, to bluegrass, to jazz, and whathaveyou.

Earlier: Former Chef at Chow and Fog City Diner to Help Open Tupelo in North Beach

Chef Mark Danziger, who formerly worked in the kitchens at One Market, Aqua, Chow, and Fog City Diner, shows off his candied-bacon burger.
The burger, topped with candied bacon and waffle fries. We haven’t tasted it ourselves, but Grub Street photographer Brian Smeets assures us it’s damn tasty. See the full menu here.
These come with nice big hunks of pork belly.
