Sightglass Coffee Gets Some Chronicle Love

Something like a year since Sightglass’s first wave of buzz on the S.F. coffee scene, and eighteen months since their kiosk first opened at 270 7th Street, the Chronicle sits up and takes notice in the Thursday Datebook with a big feature spread about brothers and co-founders Jerad and Justin Morrison. As many among the coffee cognoscenti already knew, the Morrison brothers did some time apprenticing at Blue Bottle and Four Barrel before breaking out on their own, and they’ve now become real players in the competitive world of fourth-wave coffee by roasting each type of bean differently, never over-roasting, and offering “taste notes” for all those who want to quaff the stuff like a fine Pinot. “We’re all trying to elevate what coffee is,” says 32-year-old Jerad. And, says the 27-year-old Justin, “there’s room for people to grow this [high-end] aspect of coffee [even in the S.F. market].” [Chron]
