Wow, that was fast. Tablehopper's reporting that just a few weeks after opening Plum Bar in Oakland — and after several months that went into the creation of its bar program — bar star Scott Beattie and bar manager Michael Lazar are no longer in the employ of the Daniel Patterson Group. We had heard that Beattie was working up a gin-focused cocktail list for the soon-to-open Haven in Jack London Square, so it doesn't exactly sound like this was planned. Beattie says he's heartbroken over it, and "disheartened after the months of work he put in," so he likely wasn't expecting to leave. Meanwhile, the Patterson camp says simply that Beattie "has completed his agreed upon contract with Plum Bar and we wish him well as he moves onto his next project." Chef Ron Boyd is going to be in charge of the cocktails for now, but we're unclear whether current staff will be executing existing — and delicious — cocktail list, or what. [Tablehopper]
