Occupy Protest Descends on French Laundry, SWAT Team Is Summoned

Quiet Yountville became the site of a loud and fine-dining-unfriendly protest Friday night around 8:30 p.m. when about 30 Occupy protesters — described as “mostly college students” and possibly affiliated with Occupy SF and Occupy Oakland — showed up outside the French Laundry during a private event that demonstrators claimed was connected to JPMorgan Chase Bank. The restaurant declined to confirm, for obvious reasons, that members of the too-big-to-fail set were on site, but the SWAT team was called in, and the protest ended peacefully about an hour later. By 10 p.m., the protesters had left the scene, but not before someone at the dinner sent them out a plate of cookies. But were they vegan/gluten-free?
