'Tis the era of pop-ups all over the city, and it can be a little overwhelming for the well-informed foodinista to keep up with them all! Allow us to recommend a trio of upcoming one-off events that should please your ever sophisticated palates. First off, there's a Chef's Night Off Dinner on Monday at Coi, which is a steal at $55 per person. In the kitchen will be two former Coi staffers, the husband-and-wife team of Evan and Sarah Rich whom we told you about earlier via their earlier dinners at Radius. The food is way nice and pretty intricately plated for the price they're boning up for opening their own place soon so we'd advise grabbing a seat if there still are some. [Facebook]
But that's not all!
On Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m., Range line cook Katherine Bayle is hosting the second of her Farmspun Dinners at Village Market (4555 California Street at 7th Avenue). Bayle says she draws inspiration from farmhouse meals, and "the menus revolve around produce from Santa Cruz Farm, Free Wheelin' and locally sourced meats." This one's definitely a bargain at $35 a head, which might even include pairings if you ask nicely. See the menu here, and get your tickets here. [Earlier]
And last but surely not least, on December 5, Bar Tartine is hosting another of their "Curiosities" series, in which executive chef Nick Balla hands over the reigns at the restaurant to one of his cooks. This time it's Oscar Molinar, who'll be doing a menu of food from Mexico City, including all house-made spices, cheeses, and tortillas. See the full menu here, which will be a la carte and available all night that Monday. [Earlier]
