Grill House, the small Turkish restaurant that just opened in September in the ‘Loin to a small bit of local buzz — the chef, Vahit Besir, had a vocal following on the CHOWhound boards for his halal food, and prompted Jonathan Kauffman at the Weekly to do a review — didn’t really hold on to Besir for long. As Kauffman explains a week after publishing the review, Besir was actually only on site for Kauffman’s first couple of visits before having a conflict with the owner and going his merry way. “Infuriating but not unheard of, especially when you cover tiny restaurants,” Kauffman says, having noted that “there were clear differences in the quality of the food” between his visits.
