A pair of ne’er-do-wells involved in a fight and possible robbery outside a nearby liquor store tried to escape the attention of police by running into Four Barrel Coffee (375 Valencia Street) at 4 p.m. Saturday, during what was likely prime time for post-brunch Americano-sipping and iPad-gazing. The two suspects, one male and one female as Mission Local reports, ran to the back-room roastery in search of a rear exit but were denied by the bemused roaster on duty. They then attempted to “blend in among the 80 or so customers” — no small feat without horn-rimmed spectacles, gingham shirt, rolled-up pants, and an air of coffee snobbery — at which point the cops arrived and handcuffed and arrested the suspects. Most of the Four Barrel customers on the scene reportedly missed the drama, and continued their discussions of Etsy finds and the new M83 album unabated. [Mission Local, SFist]
