As we discussed earlier this week, the opening of Dobbs Ferry (409 Gough Street) on Monday completes a boomlet of restaurant openings in Hayes Valley this year — a total of seven in 2011, including today’s opening of Lers Ros. The big plus with this one, though: A full liquor license and cocktail menu, which makes it the first new restaurant with a bar to make it open in the neighborhood — though Two Sisters Bar & Books is still hoping to get their license in the mails soon. Dobbs Ferry will feature a menu of hearty food reminiscent of East Coast Italian restaurants and small-town diners, as seen through a California lens, from chef Mike Yakura (most recently of Ozumo).
See the preliminary food and cocktail menus here, and check out our slideshow of the spacious interior, which features a front bar and lounge, main dining room, and a rear dining room with overflow seating and what will eventually become a sandwich counter facing Hayes Street. Also of note: There’s an avocado tree growing up through the middle of the building, enclosed by glass.
