There really is no more patriotic spot we can think of than the Top of the Mark, where for decades there’s been a bottle of whiskey behind glass, with a sign-in book, which is offered up to any veteran or serviceman (or woman) who visits the bar. In honor of Fleet Week this weekend, Friday through Sunday, the bar will be serving special whiskey tastings and flights to one and all, as well as a “Dippin Flight” appetizer. Luckily, the whiskey is just what the doctor ordered to calm one’s nervous after being bombarded by the Blue Angels all afternoon — make note, to those who might want to watch the planes do their “practice exercises” from on high, that they’ll be at it again tomorrow from noon to 4:30 p.m. [Grub Street]
