Here in S.F. we know that chef Ravi Kapur’s not exactly a party animal these days — he’s in fact just left his executive chef post at Prospect in order to spend more time with his infant son. But Brooklyn-based Vice mag takes him out for some late-night eats as part of their Munchies series — the same one that recently followed Locanda chef Anthony Strong out for a night. Kapur takes them to one of his favorite spots, To Hyang (3815 Geary Boulevard at 2nd Avenue), a Korean place in the Inner Richmond where the old lady in the kitchen makes all her own fermented bean paste and keeps it in jars on the patio.

He especially loves the oxtails and dates dish, and once he and sous chefs Roxanna Guardia, Chris Wade, and Samantha Mullinaux all stuff themselves, they move on for burgers after midnight at Nopa! We’re surprised, given that this is Vice we’re talking about, that purging isn’t encouraged in the midst of all this binging, but we digress.

Another takeaway: Kapur’s first restaurant job was in a pizza parlor in Waco, Texas.
