The Showroom, the new live music venue on the mezzanine level of that fancy building with the movie theater on Van Ness, has had some sort of snack menu since opening in the spring — this is the replacement concept for the short-lived Holly’s Comedy Club (1000 Van Ness). Now the Chron reports that Chad Newton (formerly of Fish & Farm, now working on American Box and the Stow Lake Boathouse) is launching a new dinner menu there along with wife and business partner Grace Nguyen, starting this weekend. Also, former Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek is playing!

Nguyen, formerly of Out the Door, is simultaneously working on opening Asian Box in Palo Alto (855 El Camino Real), along with partner Frank Klein, and Newton is apparently shopping around for a space nearby for his upcoming project, Provisions, about which we know very little. But Palo Alto sure could use some new options!
