Chef Mourad Lahlou’s attempt to open a new version of Aziza in Jackson Square’s 500 Jackson Street location has been thwarted. Apparently gutting the space and relocating the entrance and official address to 801 Montgomery wasn’t enough to ward off the bad mojo that comes with the space.
Lahlou has officially pulled out of the deal, telling the Scoop that he’s going to continue to look for a new space, either in the Jackson Square area or elsewhere. Folks can continue to enjoy Aziza at its original location at 5800 Geary Street for the time being.
