San Francisco being the cocktail-nerdiest town there is — if only in terms of sheer numbers of vodka-eschewing drink menus and assiduously measuring mixologists — it’s fitting that we should we host the biggest of cocktailian events this side of New Orleans, S.F. Cocktail Week. The fifth annual fest runs from Monday, September 19 to Sunday, September 25, and in addition to the main events we told you about a few weeks back, there are these seminars going on all week, to up your booze education; and there’s a bunch of special dinners with sponsored cocktail pairings happening around town on Tuesday, too, including a dinner at Bar Agricole featuring these awesome new gins from St. George Spirits.

And speaking of St. George, they’re hosting the big closing event of the week, a Bathtub Gin BBQ, at their Alameda Distillery, which is sure to draw a who’s-who of the local industry.

We’re especially looking forward to that, as well as the Best of the West party on Thursday the 22nd, featuring a competition between our homegrown bar talent and some of the better mixologists from San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver.

Tickets are still available for many of these seminars and parties, and you should go to the official Cocktail Week site to purchase those.

Net proceeds from San Francisco Cocktail Week events benefit the Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, and SFCW community partners, which include Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Exploratorium.
