Earlier this year we got word that Aziza, the popular, Michelin-starred, modern-Moroccan restaurant in the Outer Richmond, would be moving closer to civilization at Jackson and Montgomery. Today Lahlou talks to the Feast about the relocation plan, which now looks like it will come to fruition around March of 2012, barring any setbacks, as well as his new cookbook coming out in November, Mourad: New Moroccan.

As for the idea be bandied about to keep Aziza open in the Richmond, he’s still on the fence. He wants to find the right people to run it, and as he puts it, “If it sucks when I leave, then what’s the point?” But he’s still got a long-term lease and he may decide to reconcept it under a new name and let another chef run with a slightly tweaked, possibly more Mediterranean concept. To that end, he’s accepting pitches from any ambitious chefs in need of a kitchen to call home.
