It's an almond-hazelnut cookie... not quite sure what it has to do with S.F.
La Boulange is in expansion mode, and as we discussed earlier, the first of their new locations in the former Loehman's space at 222 Sutter Street is right off of Union Square. They opened a week early, just yesterday, and the new, urban location features a display case dedicated to their Macarons de Paris and their new Macaron de San Francisco (pictured) a flourless almond-hazelnut cookie that pairs well with coffee, tea, or wine. The rest of the story is much like the bakery-cafe's thirteen other Bay Area locations, with breakfast dishes and a few new sandwich options at lunch. Expect to see their next new downtown location, in the Merchant's Exchange building at 465 California Street, around December 1. [Grub Street, Earlier]
