18th Street between Dolores and South Van Ness is set to become the Little Tokyo of the Mission as Grub Street discovers that Ken Ken Ramen is planning to graduate from pop-up to perm in a space around the corner from The Corner, at 3378 18th Street. The small commercial space has not previously been a restaurant, and sits below an apartment building. Ken Ken owners Takahiro Hori, Robert Patterson (Revolver), and Stephen Roesch will continue the pop-up on Thursdays and Sundays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., just a couple doors up at The Corner (18th and Mission).

Meanwhile, two blocks up at the corner of 18th and Guerrero, Izakaya Yuzuki is set to open soon in the former Ebb & Flow/Craig's Place spot. And at the other end of the block, at 18th and Dolores, you can also look to see the Namu boys opening Namu Gaji sometime thereafter. That's three new Japanese options in a three-block stretch!

Because their liquor license application just went in, and there is likely a conditional use permit to go after as well, we're going to put Ken Ken's permanent move out around early 2012.
