“It’s hard to work with Thomas and not drink the Kool-Aid,” says L.A. Times food editor Russ Parsons of the great chef Keller, in a new documentary that premieres this week on public television’s KCET in L.A.*. Why’s that, Russ? “Because you see this devotion to getting every single detail right, going that extra step to make things perfect.” (Grub Street New York discovered much the same during their Q&A; with him this morning.) In the half-hour doc, which airs this weekend on KCET, we get a tour of Keller’s fastidiously clean (and not often used) home kitchen, and the interviewer accuses him of being “a little OCD.” Also, we get to see a cute photo of Keller as a kid! And where he gets all that fastidiousness? “It comes from my mother,” Keller says. Check out the clip, straight ahead.
