Pleasanton Gets Its Very Own Gastropub!

On August 29, ladies and gentlemen, Pleasanton, California will be initiated into the wild new national trend of the gastropub. Handles Gastropub (855 Main Street, in the Pleasanton Hotel), the first of its kind in that area, will feature 35 craft beers, as well as a full bar and sixteen local wines on tap. The menu, created by chef Brian Hampton, focuses on beer-friendly food, and Hampton and an on-staff cicerone will also be introducing Pleasanton to the crazy idea of beer pairings as well, with a five-course menu paired exclusively with beer. We kid Pleasanton, of course, but we imagine this new restaurant concept will elicit more than a few amazed oohs and “whaaat?”s in the outer East Bay. [Grub Street]
