The much anticipated, not-just-Italian Flour + Water spinoff, Central Kitchen, is moving forward and now has a chef de cuisine on board: Manresa sous chef Michael Gaines. As the Scoop reports, Gaines also previously worked at Gary Danko, and he’ll be working closely with executive chef Thomas McNaughton to create the menu at the new restaurant and the adjacent old-world-style deli, Salumeria. A rep for the owners tells Grub Street the opening of both restaurants is now slated for early 2012, and construction is ongoing.

There were still no renderings available of the project when we posted our Fall Preview last week, but there’s now a little sketch of what the courtyard might look like from Paxton Gate, who appears to be doing the plant-scape work.
