Louis’ Restaurant, Due to Reopen in Late July, Is Going to Be Super Locavore

As part of the deal to renew their lease on National Park Service land, 70+-year-old Louis’ Restaurant signed an agreement saying they would source all of their food (except tomatoes) from a 25-mile radius, and that they would renovate according to stringent green building standards. Among the changes to the new dining room and kitchen will be LED lights, reclaimed wood, bamboo siding, and floor tiles made of 55% recycled material. Richmond SF blog reports on the restaurant’s progress and says they aim to be open again by late July. Also, they have a cool historic photo of the place, and all the buildings that used to sit next door to it on Land’s End, ca. 1947. [Richmond SF]
