Willie Brown Urges Race-Blind Tasting of Fried Chicken

Inside Scoop and Chronicle pundit Willie Brown, who likes to use his journalistic platforms to play armchair food critic whenever he can these days, highlights four of what he considers to be the Bay Area’s best fried chicken dishes, at 1300 on Fillmore, Pican, Perry’s, and Town Hall. He doesn’t rank the four, and lest you be one to do some racial profiling on a restaurant before making assumptions about their fried chicken, Willie says all these chickens are created equal. “I know this will come as a shock to some,” he writes, “but if it had been a blind tasting I would have not been able to distinguish the chicken from the African American establishments from the non African American owned establishments.” Actually, Willie, we think we speak for most of San Francisco when we say that we already knew there were a few white people out there who make good fried chicken.
