Regarding Halu, a Pioneering Izakaya/Shrine to the Beatles in the Richmond

Much like the recently shuttered Tamasei Sushi in Noe Valley, Halu (312 8th Avenue) in the Inner Richmond serves as both Japanese restaurant and shrine to the Beatles. The Single Guy today gives us a little window on the place, where owners Mimi and Shigemi Komiyama have been slinging yakitori, kushikatsu (fried stuff), and ramen for three years now, mostly under the radar — though Kauffman recently put their pork skewers at No. 8 on the Weekly’s 92-dish city tour. Single Guy calls the ramen just “average,” but he says the place is “homey” and that it has a “distinctive rock-and-roll vibe.” [Cooking With the Single Guy]
