Monk’s Kettle Team Expands to Valencia With Abbot’s Cellar

Remember that big former auto-repair space at 740 Valencia Street that the Town Hall/Salt House crew was eying? Well, now that they nixed that plan, Tablehopper gets the word that Monk’s Kettle owners Christian Albertson and Nat Cutler scooped up the space and will be opening The Abbot’s Cellar, hopefully by this winter. The deal is basically Monk’s Kettle on steroids with 100 seats total, a higher-end menu of gourmet American and European food from Monk’s chef Adam Dulye, plus craft beer pairings, a more focused beer list, and a wine program by Jeff Segal of Heart, who’s also been doing wines at Monk’s. They’re aiming to open by winter, if all goes well.
