Setting aside for a minute that they make margaritas with low-alcohol agave wine (they’re actually not that bad, but not as good as a real margarita), Fondue Cowboy has risen to the top of our list when we need to satisfy our occasional melted cheese fix. Their salads are solid, and in the savory fondue department they’ve got your traditional Emmenthaler-and-wine combinations, as well as some less traditional riffs, like the Outlaw, with aged cheddar, beer, slow roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, roasted jalapeno, cilantro. You pretty much can’t go wrong with any of the options, and we’re fans of the dolce gorgonzola-based Rawhide with bacon on top, too.

But the best part are all the traditional little items they give you to dip in the stuff, like roasted butterball potatoes, cubes of bread, Kalamata olives, apples, cornichons, and broccoli. It’s almost healthy!

As for the idea that each of these mini-cauldrons of cheese is meant to serve two? Well, that might be a stretch, unless of course you’re contemplating dessert.
