New York chef (and Chez Panisse alum) Jonathan Waxman, dubbed Obi-Wan, the Jedi Chef by his competitors on Top Chef Masters season 2 because of his unnatural calm and winning track record while under pressure, is popping up in S.F. next week. On Wednesday, April 20, he’ll be guest of honor at a dinner at A16 in celebration of his new book Italian, My Way, and in addition to speaking and signing copies of the book, chef David Taylor will be doing a four-course menu using recipes from the book — including handkerchief pasta with meatballs, and a seven-hour-braised leg of lamb. It’s $115 per person, including wine pairings and a signed copy of the book, or $185 per couple. Reserve by calling Book Passage at 415.927.0969. [Grub Street]
