Medium-sized nightlife news this morning out of the Lower Haight: Mini-nightclub Underground SF (424 Haight Street, once upon a time known as The Top) is on the Market. As Haighteration finds, owner “Cip” Cipriano is looking to offload the whole building, including the ground-floor nightclub business, if there are any willing takers for the whole shebang. This could of course spell doom for the Lower Haight’s only happening nightspot, with successful gay parties every Saturday night and various mixed parties during the week. But then again an enterprising nightlife person should see some potential here — they’ll just need to build some new bathrooms. See the full listing here. Update: Grub Street just spoke with Cipriano, who wants to clarify a few things, and adds, “My bathrooms are still better than Beauty Bar’s!”

First of all, the $1.5M pricetag on that listing is for the building only, and does not include the bar — though he says that all the interested parties he’s talked to so far intend to buy the bar as well.

Also, says Cip, regarding his reasons for selling, “Look, I’ve been in the business for eighteen years, running four successful clubs (including My Place in SoMa, and The Pound) and I haven’t had more than seven consecutive days off in eighteen years. I’ve never been to Europe! I just want to travel, man. And then maybe I’ll come back and probably start all over, open something else.”
