Charles Chocolates Goes Under, La Festa Della Donna at A16, and More

Downtown/Union Square: Charles Chocolates, which opened a flagship retail store at the Westfield Centre less than a year ago, is shuttering completely. They couldn't be reached for comment, however it sounds from their Facebook post like the store as well as their Emeryville factory and wholesale operations are all closed for good. They express "profound gratitude for everyone who has supported Charles Chocolates over the last 6 1/2 years." [Grub Street]

Marina: A16 is hosting their annual dinner Tuesday, March 8 in celebration of International Women's Day called La Festa Della Donna. The evening features wines and dishes by female guest chefs and winemakers including Barbara Lynch (Menton in Boston) and Andante Dairy's Soyoung Scanlan, and proceeds go to benefit La Cocina. Call 415.771.2216 to reserve. [Grub Street]

Potrero: Source (11 Division Street), the vegetarian restaurant serving up color therapy and "food that loves you" like pizza and faux meats with names like "oink" and "cluck," is a touch delayed but says they'll be open March 9. We'll have a side of quack with that please. [Eater, Earlier]

South Beach: Carmen's on Pier 40 is becoming something called SB40, with oysters, and burgers. [Eater]

Polk Gulch: Brenda's French Soul Food starts dinner service tonight, a few days ahead of Mardi Gras. [Scoop]

Mission: Pollo Campero, the Guatamalen chicken chain we talked about, didn't go over so well at Planning yesterday. Their prospects of moving into a former Payless Shoe location have been delayed. [Scoop, Earlier]
