Grub Street received confirmation yesterday that East Coast hipster bowling concern Brooklyn Bowl does not, as was rumored, at least anymore, have any plans in the works to expand to San Francisco. Says Justin Bolognino, a spokesman for the company, “This is just a rumor based on an interview where Pete [owner Peter Shapiro] said we’ve considered it.” We think they did more than consider it, but anyhow, they are definitely expanding to Chicago. Then today, Tablehopper brings news of a different bowling alley project headed to the same neighborhood, and perhaps it was this one that got the rumors rolling in the first place: Mini Bar owners Sommer Peterson and Molly Bradshaw are looking at opening a fanci-fied, modern bowling alley with six lanes and a restaurant at an undisclosed location, sometime in 2012.
They’re still on the lookout for a chef or established restaurant partner who’s looking to expand.
Further deets, per Ms. Hopper: “The design will be comfortable (no 60s kitsch) with warm furnishings and plush seating at the lanes. There will be a sunny outdoor patio for dining, which will also provide a generous area of covered bike parking.”
