Despite the insistence by owners Tom and Tim Muller that the new Lou’s Village next to Willow Street Plaza is more of a restaurant than a bar, neighbors in San Jose’s Willow Glen area are up in arms about the idea that they’re not only applying for a full liquor license, but they want to operate until 2 a.m.! This kind of NIMBY outrage about perfectly normal drinking establishments echoes what’s recently been going on in Walnut Creek, but the Willow Glen folks add a bit of a xenophobic/racist angle, with one saying in an email to the city that such a bar will end up becoming “host for every quinceanera this side of Story and King.” Anyway, the point is, they don’t like things loud or “boisterous” in Willow Glen! It’s a family place!
