Patti U. Is Most Pleased With Kam’s New Chef

Paying a visit to Kam’s Restaurant (Patti loves that Asian beat!), Ms. Unterman reveals that “three months ago owner Kathy Wong hired a new chef, Yip Fung, formerly of the R & G Lounge.” She recommends sitting in the first of the restaurant’s two coffeeshop-like rooms, and she says to pick from the daily specials list — things like kabocha squash seafood soup, and the dried ginger chicken. She writes, “Chef Fung has a way with glass noodles,” and one of the most dramatic dishes is one with glass noodles “piled with steamed clam” and served with clam broth in a 6-inch surf clam shell. Also, because one of the owners is a coffee freak, they make a good macchiato. [Examiner]
