Andrew Zimmern’s S.F. Episode to Put the Street Back in Street Food

We thought when Andrew Zimmern was in town last fall shooting an episode of Bizarre Foods that it was going to be focusing on our food trucks and street food, but now it’s sounding more like it will be about street people food instead. SFoodie caught this promo for the very special episode, in which Andrew appears to be roaming the Mission commiserating with people about how he was once homeless for a year, sifting through dumpsters with a couple of freegans, and setting up a makeshift soup kitchen at the 16th Street BART station? Anyhow, the Travel Channel is bribing viewers by promising to donate ten cents to a homeless charity for every person who watches the episode. Consider yourselves guilted.

Also, Andrew visits Spices in the Richmond along with Chris Cosentino for some authentic, spicy Szechuan-Taiwanese street food.

The episode premieres tomorrow, Tuesday March 1, at 6 and 9 p.m. on the Travel Channel.
