Popular Italian coffee chain Caffe Pascucci, which is already operating 100 cafés in 20 countries, chose San Francisco for their first U.S. location, and it opens Monday, January 10 at 170 King Street, adjacent to AT&T Park. The shop isn't just your average Starbucks/Peet's (it's Italian!), but they take some Starbucks-style liberties in varying from the standard coffee beverage canon — there will be 25+ varieties of savory and sweet coffee drinks, dessert drinks, yogurt based smoothies, and frozen specialties. For example: gianduio (gold espresso, hot foamed milk, gianduia, whipped creme, hazelnut crunch, hazelnut spread, $4.50) and pas-ciok con panna (dense hot chocolate with whipped cream - $3.95 for small, $4.50 large). Also there'll be a small food menu created by Chad Newton (most recently of Fish & Farm) and Frank Klein, featuring a line-caught tuna and white bean salad ($8.95), a Pascucci "BLT" made with smoked Sonoma bacon and spicy black pepper mayo ($7.95), and a selection of paninis.
