Straw Opens January 24, The Grove Hayes Valley Opens Saturday, and More

Hayes Valley: Straw (203 Octavia at Page), the carnival-themed restaurant we mentioned a few weeks back, is moving along at a steady clip and plans to be open by Monday, January 24. And there is a “tilt-a-whirl booth.” [Grub Street]

Also in Hayes Valley, The Grove (301 Hayes at Franklin) is set to open Saturday next week, around the 20th, say. See the menu here.

And furthermore, we note that in nixing redevelopment from the state budget, Governor Brown may have put those planned affordable housing projects along Octavia in jeopardy, which means that that “temporary” Proxy thing might be around for a lot longer than expected. [Chron, Earlier]

Inner Sunset: The Wooly Pig Café (205 Hugo) is now open. [SFoodie]

Russian Hill: Leopold’s (2400 Polk), the Austrian-Italian restaurant going into the former Antica Trattoria, may be softly open as soon as next week, with a last-week-in-January grand opening. [Eater, Earlier]

Haight: Tikka Masala (1668 Haight) has reopened following a renovation. [SFoodie]

Sausalito: Look for Kim Alter’s Plate Shop to open next week, too, on January 20. More on that later. Update: Make that, actually, in two weeks, on January 27. [Grub Street]
