Oakland's Parkway Theater, popular because they served beer and pizza along with second-run movies but not popular enough to stay open past 2009, has faced considerable hurdles in trying to reopen under new management. The Chron first reported that it would reopen in the summer of '09, but proposed new operator J. Moses Ceaser still hasn't reached agreeable terms with the building owner, and is now considering just moving the concept elsewhere in town — like to an abandoned showroom on Auto Row, or to the former Omni Club at 48th and Shattuck. As the East Bay Express reports, these alternatives make the Parkway's ardent fans sad.
