Grub Street broke the news a bit ago about Triple Crown (1760 Market) becoming Rebel, at the hands of Truck owner Paul Miller and partners Duncan Ley and Ben Bleiman (Tonic, Bullitt). Now, as Miller tells us, there's a scheduled opening date of February 28, and they've struck a partnership with Sneaky's, the underground barbecue operation who've made some appearances at Tonic, and who'll be doing the menu and taking over the kitchen at Rebel. Says Miller, "Food will be available, at least to go, until late."
The plan is for Rebel to be primarily gay most nights of the week, hosting parties and such, with a mixed scene not unlike the one at Triple Crown happening during happy hour and dinner hours.
And the theme, spinning off of Truck and its automotive decor, will be vintage motorcycles.
They're currently hiring staff, and they encourage anyone to come audition at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, or at 4 p.m. on Saturday the 22nd.
