Despite the Name, Bauer Is Impressed by Rotisserie & Wine

Mr. Bauer thinks Tyler Florence’s latest opening in Napa, Rotisserie & Wine, “sounds like a chain” and perhaps could have used a more imaginative name. But he’s nonetheless pleased with the food he found there, being overseen by the deft hand of Jeremy Fox, “one of the best chefs in the Bay Area.” He says that Fox’s beet and avocado salad looks straight off a table at Ubuntu (where Fox made his name), and he loves the corn sticks served before dinner, a “beautiful dish of soupy farro,” as well as the crispy pig’s ear salad. He calls the gumbo “well executed,” and says he’d order any of the rotisserie meats again, “especially the chicken” which is served with salsa verde. Also, the desserts are “well worth staying for, especially the pie.” All told: three stars for food, two and a half overall. [Chron]
