There are some more new year chef shuffles in our midst: As Tablehopper reports, chef Nick Balla, most recently of Nombe, will do an about-face from Japanese to French-inflected (we assume) at Bar Tartine, replacing chef Chris Kronner as of March 1. Kronner is headed out of town to take a new gig, and we suspect it might be in New York (he took a recent trip there), but no one's saying anything yet.
