Ever take pasta out of a pan with tongs? You’re an imbecile. How about flip a burger on the grill with them? Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. All sorts of calamities can occur! You could rip the food! You could … well, um. Ripping the food is pretty much the main potential calamity. But still: Chefs are not fans of ripped food. At least Greg Malouf isn’t — The Wall Street Journal says he banned them from his restaurants in Hong Kong and Melbourne. And a New Yorker profile made David Chang’s hatred of tongs famous.
