What to Eat at Bar Bambino’s Harvest Dinner

It’s fall, and it feels like it, especially now that it gets dark at five. But like we mentioned earlier, there’s some comfort in autumnal meals as the air gets brisker, and Bar Bambino is hosting a special Harvest Dinner tomorrow night full of fall flavors. As you may have heard, chef Lizzie Binder has taken a turn for the Eastern European on her menu, delving into some of the root cuisines of Italian cooking in Hungary, Croatia, and elsewhere. Thus on the menu is a Slovenian-influenced buckwheat and wild mushroom risotto with toasted whole buckwheat grains, a ragu of foraged chanterelles and matsutake mushrooms, and finished with sour cream and parsley. Also: a lamb stew with pumpkin and pomegranate.

The dinner is from 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday), $85 per person. Wine pairings will be from Balzano and Friuli. Reserve at 415-701-8466. The next special dinner will be on December 2 with the theme “Celebrate the Season.”
