Cantina, Duggan McDonnell’s swell Latin-esque bar near Union Square, will begin hosting underground wine events called Bodega de Cantina on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the basement bar — get it? Underground! Nirvino is hosting a “sneak peek” next week, November 9 (even though it’s been softly open for a few weeks), featuring wines from Three Thieves, Chimney Rock Winery, and others, as well as food from what will be Bodega’s regular food menu, featuring local cheese and Fatted Calf Charcuterie. Get tickets for next Tuesday here, and the wine bar is otherwise open to the public tonight and next Wednesday, featuring fifteen wines by the glass. This underground wine thing follows on other similar pop-up events like Absinthe’s monthly Pickled cocktail nights, for those boozehounds in the know. [Grub Street]
