Where Not to Eat

Venturing to Forbes Island, That Mini-Lighthouse Restaurant Near the Sea Lions

Far across the wilds of sea lion harbor (is it really called that?), next to Pier 39, sits Forbes Island, one of those touristy restaurants at which many of us dare not dine, but the only one that sits on a floating, man-made island, spitting distance from the squawking sea lions, with a mini-lighthouse and an underwater dining room. The Yelpers seem to love it, calling it things like “THE CUTEST ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE,” and Thrillist is now offering a two-for-one dinner deal at the place every Wednesday this month. So even if the food isn’t so stellar, it’ll be cheap, and you can at least say you’ve been there.
