All of us in the local food blogosphere have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Plum (2214 Broadway, Oakland), the new, neighborhood-y little sister to Daniel Patterson’s Coi. The place opens tomorrow, September 29, which also happens to be the birthday of Patterson’s son, and in a move almost unheard of for Oakland restaurants, they’ll be open each night until 1 a.m. Check out the slick, modern space (a major transformation from the fried chicken joint it used to be), featuring 48 seats, open kitchen, Edison bulbs, much blond wood, a 30-foot elliptical chandelier, and soon to feature several large photographs of plums by Catherine Wagner (whose art is also featured in the dining room at Coi), which are being installed tomorrow.

Look for a final menu tomorrow, which includes a four-course prix fixe option for $45. In early 2011, look for the next-door cocktail bar to open up with a menu by both Scott Beattie, and a rotating crew of bar stars from all over the West Coast.

Plum - 2214 Broadway, Oakland - 510.444.7586 - Open daily 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. - Reservations here
