Oakland's answer to a county fair, replete with an army of food trucks and three straight days of entertainment and urban homesteading education, went down this weekend at Jack London Square, and a whole mess of people showed up. When we were wandering around Eat Real on Saturday afternoon, foot traffic through the usually sleepy plaza by the Oakland estuary was pretty thick, and the lines at the beer shed were long enough that we skipped the "tasting" option and went straight for full pours. Highlights included a goat butchering demo from Dave the Butcher, a chicken culling demo (that's killing and cleaning, we actually couldn't watch), Sunday's pig butchery contest, a perfectly juicy Magruder Ranch burger from 4505 Meats, Thai bao from Le Truc, and some spicy mac and cheese from the upcoming Homeroom. See our full slideshow, and let your mouths water.
