North Beach: News comes down the wire today that the venerable Washington Square Bar & Grill (1707 Powell Street), nicknamed the Washbag, opened in 1973, and frequented by Herb Caen and many others, has closed indefinitely. Also, its former owner Ed Moose has died. [Scoop]
Laurel Heights: We missed this a month or so ago, but Midori Sushi (3420 Geary) is open in the former Sushi Boom space, and Yelpers seem to dig it. [Grub Street]
Cow Hollow: As if the bubblegum cupcakes weren’t enough, American Cupcake is serving something called “red velvet fried chicken.” Um. What? [Urban Daddy]
Yountville: Eater reports that the bluefin tuna controversy it started has swayed Keller to remove the fish from the menu at French Laundry, even though it sounds like he only ever used farm-raised fish. [Eater]
