Bar Agricole (355 11th Street) is one of those projects that many people in town (but especially the cocktail geeks) have been tapping their fingers impatiently for since it was announced early last year. Thad Vogler’s new “Chez Panisse of cocktails” is an original, highly designed space, and whenever you’re dealing with a team of architects and designers, not to mention custom glass sculptors, you know there are going to be delays. The place opens its doors to the public tomorrow, with a menu from chef Brandon Jew; custom booths, bars, and a concrete floor from ConcreteWorks; skylight fixtures by Nikolas Weinstein Studios (who have also worked with Frank Gehry); and a design by Aidlin-Darling Design.
Several members of the design team have become investors, including Nikolas Weinstein who’s responsible for the swooping sculptures made out of glass pipe that hang below the three skylights. And we should note that the building has already been recognized by the Green Building Council and the interior is on track to receive LEED Platinum certification, making it the first commercial interior in S.F. to meet such standards for green building.
There may be some soft-opening business happening tonight, but as far we know it’s booked solid and you’ll probably want to opt for a reservation, which they start accepting as of tomorrow night.
