OK, it didn’t exactly threaten Alice or her restaurant, but a large mountain lion was traipsing around Walnut Street, two blocks up from Chez Panisse and the Shattuck Avenue Gourmet Ghetto, and was shot by Berkeley Police around 3 a.m. this morning. The Daily Planet jokes that this was a “highly urbane” lion, trying to head west toward the restaurant rather than back east toward the hills, which the officers were encouraging, so they shot it.
