Ike’s Still Fighting That Eviction

It seems inevitable that ridiculously popular Castro sandwich shop Ike’s Place will have to move (and really, shouldn’t he want to at this point? to someplace with a counter and some seating?), but owner Ike Shehadeh is holding on for his last appeal to overturn his eviction, which will likely result in a ruling next Monday. As you’ll recall, Ike doesn’t actually have the right permit to operate a sandwich shop in that location — a detail the landlord and city seem to have ignored lo these several years — but he insists to the Chron, perhaps arrogantly, “In the end we will be cleared and everyone will look back and see what a waste of time and money it was.” [Chron, Earlier]
