Every so often we stumble (at least via the web) into the tucked away, oft-forgotten, tourist-y corners of town where locals who are not Yelpers dare not tread, like Marrakech on O’Farrell, or No. 9 Fisherman’s Grotto, otherwise known as “the Mel Gibson of restaurants.” Today we discover this new promotional slideshow from Jeanne D’Arc restaurant in the basement of the Cornell Hotel de France (715 Bush Street). They promise to transport you to “15th century France, the time of Joan of Arc, replete with tapestries, statues, artifacts, and stained glass windows.” Also, there are imitation frescoes of pigs being spit-roasted and deer being slaughtered. It’s like medieval kitsch!
