While we’re not willing to accept that the best pizza in the Bay Area could be anywhere south of the airports, the Journal today shows some love for recent BayList Best Pizza winner Slice of New York in San Jose. Native New Yorker and former software engineer Kirk Vartan opened the expat pizzeria to provide (you guessed it) the NY-style slices that are still fairly rare in these parts. “It’s the closest thing you can find to real pizza out here,” says a Cisco employee who frequents the place. We’re pretty sure Anthony Strong (Pizzeria Delfina) and Tony Gemignani would object.
